A charitable organization is seeking two Independent Members for its Finance Committee. This role supports financial oversight and planning for the charity in the UK and Ireland. Ideal candidates will have a strong financial background, commercial acumen, and skills in constructive challenge. This is an unpaid position with reimbursements for reasonable expenses.
The Salvation Army is one of the oldest and most diverse providers of social services in the world, delivering its mission as a church and a charity in 134 countries. The Salvation Army Trustee Company is the corporate trustee of the trusts under which The Salvation Army operates in the UK. With an income of c.£300 million, the diversity of The Salvation Army’s UK programme is reflected in its charitable activities (from anti-human trafficking work to children and families work), the breadth of its group (including an ethical insurer and a housing association) and the extent of its physical assets (including a considerable property portfolio).
The Finance Committee meets every other month. It is a recently established Committee with an independent Chair and is advisory to the SATCo Board. Its purpose is to consider the overall financial position, performance and planning of The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The role of Independent Member of the Finance Committee of The Salvation Army provides a unique opportunity to support one of the UK’s leading providers of practical Christianity in action. The role is unpaid but reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Individuals must be supportive of the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
