Job summary

Mears Group PLC is recruiting for a field-based housing and welfare support role in East Lancashire. You will manage a diary, inspect properties, raise repair orders, and support vulnerable service users with health, finances, and housing needs.

The role involves face-to-face visits, coordinating appointments, and ensuring access to essential resources. A full UK driving licence is required, and safeguarding awareness is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, support or welfare services is required.
• Strong communication with clients and colleagues is essential.
• Ability to manage conflict and challenging situations effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general IT competence.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Knowledge of local support services and housing pathways is desirable.
• Safeguarding awareness is important.
• Good time management and prioritisation skills.
• A full UK driving licence is essential for travel between properties and appointments.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own diary and property portfolio.
• Carry out property inspections and raise work orders for repairs.
• Balance administrative duties with direct support work.
• Maintain regular contact with service users through visits and calls.
• Encourage engagement with appointments and support services.
• Support service users with health, finances, repairs, and move-on processes.
• Assist with appointments and referrals, providing fallback support when needed.
• Help service users find and secure suitable accommodation.
• Arrange food parcels and access to essential resources.
• Assess needs and identify appropriate support packages to maintain independence.
• Contribute to a front-line team supporting vulnerable individuals including homelessness and health issues.
• Incident reporting and safeguarding where welfare concerns arise.
• Clean void properties to enable faster turnaround.
