Job summary

Mears Group seeks a Resident Welfare Officer to support vulnerable individuals and prevent homelessness by providing frontline, practical and pastoral assistance. You will manage a diary, inspect properties, raise repairs, and help service users access housing resources.

Based in East Lancashire and field-based, the role requires a full UK driving licence, 40 hours per week, and a 8:30am–5pm schedule with occasional OOH coverage on a 1-in-7 basis. The package includes a £3,500 car allowance.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing, support or welfare services.
• Proficiency in MS Office and IT competence.
• Full UK Driving Licence required for travel between properties and appointments.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Strong safeguarding focus and client-centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage your diary and property portfolio.
• Carry out property inspections and raise work orders for repairs.
• Balance administrative duties with direct support work.
• Maintain regular contact with service users via visits and calls.
• Assist with appointments, referrals, and move-on processes.
• Help service users find suitable accommodation and access resources.
