Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Distribution Technician to keep the water flowing in a field-based role across the southeast. You will handle customer appointments, investigate supply issues, locate meters, perform water quality tests and support crews on site.

The role operates on a rotating shift with early, day and standby hours, plus occasional Saturdays. A valid licence and IT proficiency are essential; water industry knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• A valid driving licence.
• Customer service orientation and ability to assist customers with queries.
• Proactive problem-solving under pressure.
• Able to use IT and computer systems confidently.
• Water industry qualifications advantageous but not essential.
• Knowledge of plumbing or water mains would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer appointments and carry out allocated work, provide general advice and water quality tests.
• Carry out mains shut, risk assessments, interruption reports and maintenance flushing; liaise with housing developers for new supplies.
• Raise IT system requests for contractor work and supervise contractors on the distribution network.
• Investigate leaks, mains bursts and water discoloration and propose practical solutions.
• Comply with Health & Safety legislation and company policy; participate in standby rota for out-of-hours support.
