Job summary

South East Water UK is hiring a Distribution Technician to keep the water flowing and ensure a reliable supply for communities.

This field-based, rotating shift role covers customer support, network maintenance, contractor coordination, and on-site investigations, with standby duties.

Starting base salary around £33,028 with clear progression to £41,535, plus strong benefits and a focus on safety and service.

Qualifications

• A valid driving licence.
• A passion for delivering excellent customer service.
• The ability to take initiative, work well under pressure and have a keen interest in problem‑solving.
• Confident using IT and computers.
• Previous Water Industry qualifications advantageous but not essential.
• Previous knowledge of plumbing or water mains/service laying would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Customer Support: Attending customer appointments and carry out allocated work, respond to requests and provide general advice, water quality tests, and help locating water meters.
• Network Support: Carrying out mains shuts, risk assessments, interruption reports, proactive maintenance flushing and water sampling; liaising with housing developers for new water supplies; regulatory inspections on new build properties.
• Contractor Support: Raising IT system requests for contractor works and supervising contractors on the distribution network.
• Investigations: Attending sites to investigate leaks, mains bursts and water discoloration and offering practical solutions.
• Health & Safety: Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and company policy.
• Standby rota: Participate in out-of-hours standby for the operational area.
