Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Distribution Technician to keep water flowing for communities. This field-based role covers responding to customer needs, investigating outages, and supporting mains work.

You will work in a rotating shift and join a standby rota for out-of-hours support, with a clear career ladder from Level 1 to Level 5. Starting salary and progression depend on experience.

Qualifications

• A valid driving licence.
• A passion for delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to take initiative and work well under pressure.
• Confident using IT and computers.
• Water industry qualifications advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer appointments and carry out allocated work, respond to requests, offer general advice and locate water meters when needed.
• Carry out mains shuts, risk assessments, interruption reports, maintenance flushing and water sampling; liaise with housing developers for new supplies; perform regulatory inspections on new builds.
• Raise requests via IT systems for contractor work and supervise contractors on the distribution network.
• Attend sites to investigate leaks, mains bursts and water discoloration; propose practical solutions.
• Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and company policy; participate in standby rota to provide out-of-hours support.
