Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team, covering Buxton, Matlock, Chesterfield, Bakewell and surrounding areas. You’ll service, diagnose, and repair Volvo construction equipment on customer sites, delivering first-class service and maximising machine uptime.

Applicants must hold NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related discipline, with proven field-based maintenance experience and a full UK

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or related discipline.
• Experience maintaining and repairing construction plant equipment.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment at customer sites.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Act as main point of contact for customers, providing updates on status and repair actions.
• Complete all job documentation, inspection reports and timesheets accurately and in real time.
• Maintain high safety, professionalism and compliance with company policies.
