Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Service Manager in Wakefield to lead a team of field-based engineers and ensure efficient day-to-day service operations. This hands-on role requires coordinating workloads, supporting engineers, and managing customer requirements while maintaining high workshop/service standards.

Experience in forklift/materials handling, plant hire, or related sectors is preferred. The position offers a company van, fuel card, and standard benefits, with Monday–Friday hours

Qualifications

• Leadership and people management experience
• Ability to plan and schedule field service work
• Strong customer-facing service skills and professionalism
• Technical understanding of forklift/material-handling problems
• Experience coordinating engineers and service workloads
• Knowledge of health and safety and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of field service engineers and allocate work
• Plan and manage service schedules, maintenance and inspections
• Handle breakdowns and call-outs, optimise technician allocation
• Act as main service contact for customers and resolve issues
• Maintain technical oversight to understand equipment problems
• Coordinate parts, tools, and resources for jobs
• Monitor service costs, productivity and profitability of the department
• Ensure safety compliance and proper workshop operations
• Collaborate with sales and other departments on accounts and contracts
