Job summary

SER Limited in West Yorkshire is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and repair materials handling equipment, primarily electric forklifts, at customer sites. This field-based role offers autonomy with no overnight stays and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Field Service Engineer, Plant Engineer, Forklift Engineer, or in a similar engineering role.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.
• Experience working on materials handling equipment and forklifts.
• Experience with electric forklifts is highly advantageous.
• Experience working with gas and diesel equipment would also be beneficial.
• Engineering qualifications or an apprenticeship is advantageous, but experience is key.
• LOLER certification is desirable but not essential.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Committed to working safely and maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair materials handling equipment.
• Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs on forklifts and associated equipment.
• Work primarily on electric forklifts, alongside gas and diesel equipment.
• Attend customer sites to complete scheduled servicing and breakdown work.
• Complete preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers while working on-site.
• Complete relevant service reports and documentation.
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety regulations.
• Manage your own workload and travel between customer sites.
• Work closely with the wider team to ensure a high standard of service is maintained.
