Job summary

WR Engineering is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover customer sites across the Midlands. You will install, commission and service packaging machinery, working predominantly on-site with a focus on electrical and mechanical fault-finding and efficient problem resolution.

The role requires strong customer-facing skills, a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel. A competitive package includes a basic salary up to £40,000 plus OTE to £50,000, with overtime and a company van

Field Service Engineer (Packaging Machinery)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a growing engineering business, covering customer sites across the Midlands and surrounding areas.

This is a customer-facing role focused on the installation, commissioning, servicing and repair of packaging machinery. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and be confident diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults on complex automated equipment.

You will work predominantly on-site, providing a high level of technical support while building strong relationships with customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission and service packaging machinery at customer sites.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control-system faults.
• Complete machinery upgrades, modifications and installations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers.
• Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
• Manage your own workload, travel and customer appointments.
• Work safely and professionally across a range of manufacturing environments.

About You

• Previous Field Service Engineering experience is essential.
• Packaging machinery experience is essential.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with automated machinery and control systems.
• Comfortable working independently at customer sites.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Midlands and occasionally further afield.
