Job summary

SER Limited is seeking a Field Service Engineer in Manchester to service and commission packaging machinery. You will travel across the North UK, carrying out electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostics in a hands-on, customer-facing role.

Ideal candidates have experience with packaging machinery, automation or capital equipment and can work independently on-site. A strong focus on customer satisfaction and professional conduct is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with packaging machinery, automation or capital equipment environments.
• Confident fault finding and diagnosing technical issues.
• Reading electrical schematics and technical drawings is required.
• On-site, proactive and professional with customers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with PLCs and controls is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, install and commission packaging machinery.
• Travel to customer sites across the North UK – M62.
• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostics.
• Perform planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
• Support automation, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Complete service reports and maintain documentation.

The Role

• Service, repair, install and commission a range of packaging machinery
• Travel to customer sites across the North UK – M62
• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support
• Work with automation, controls, electrical and pneumatic systems
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on-site
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation

Requirements

• Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills
• Experience within packaging machinery, automation, food processing or a similar capital equipment environment
• Confident fault finding and diagnosing technical issues
• Experience with PLCs, automation and control systems would be advantageous
• Able to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Proactive, professional and able to work independently on-site
• A genuine team player who values customer satisfaction
