Job summary

Harrington Starr is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join our technology team in London or New York, onsite. The role focuses on high-performance FPGA hardware for electronic trading, collaborating with software engineers and traders to deploy latency-sensitive solutions across trading desks.

You will own significant FPGA applications with exposure to RTL design, synthesis, timing, and networking protocols, developing robust verification and testing infrastructure in a Linux environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional FPGA engineering experience.
• Strong VHDL experience.
• Experience with high-speed design/protocols.
• Knowledge in networking, computer architecture or verification.
• Experience across the full FPGA development lifecycle.
• Comfortable working within a Linux environment.
• C/C++ knowledge.
• Strong coding and hardware design practices.

Responsibilities

FPGA Engineer – Electronic Trading | London or New York

I’m working with a high-performance electronic trading firm looking to hire an FPGA Engineer into its technology team in London or New York.

This is a highly hands-on role working at the intersection of FPGA hardware, low-latency technology and systematic trading. You’ll work directly with software engineers and traders to design, build and deploy FPGA solutions across the firm's trading businesses.

There is significant ownership available as the team grows, with the opportunity to become a key stakeholder across major FPGA applications and trading areas.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and building FPGA applications from the ground up
• Working across RTL design, synthesis, place & route and static timing analysis
• Developing high-performance FPGA solutions for electronic trading
• Working with high-speed networking and protocols
• Building robust testing and verification infrastructure
• Working closely with C++/software engineers to integrate FPGA applications
• Optimising hardware/software interfaces
• Working directly with traders and technologists on performance and latency challenges

What we're looking for
