Job summary

South West Water Limited in St Austell is seeking a Metering Technician to carry out field-based surveys and meter maintenance, both on-site and in the office, delivering excellent customer service across the South West.

The role involves investigating metering queries, installations, and replacements, and coordinating with customers and contractors to ensure safe, reliable water services. DBS check required and closing date noted.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• A positive, professional and solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems.
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Experience in a customer-facing or field-based role is desirable.
• Knowledge of metering, utilities or water operations would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Investigating and resolving customer metering enquiries.
• Visiting household and business customers to carry out surveys and inspections.
• Supporting meter installation, maintenance and replacement activities.
• Conducting supply checks and basic leak investigations.
• Keeping customers informed throughout their journey.
• Accurately recording information and updating company systems.
• Working with contractors and operational teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company standards.
