Job summary

South Staffordshire Water is seeking a Field Team Leader to manage and develop a team of Meter Readers across the South Staffordshire area. You will coach, monitor performance and ensure high service standards.

The role involves regular travel, field audits and providing frontline support to staff while maintaining safety and quality. This 12-month FTC supports maternity cover, with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in meter reading or metering industry.
• Experience supervising, coaching or leading teams.
• Hold a Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the South Staffordshire area.
• Good technical understanding of metering equipment and field operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support a team of Meter Readers operating across the South Staffordshire area.
• Drive performance against meter reading and scheduled read programme targets.
• Deliver field-based coaching, training and quality assurance interventions.
• Review work completed by team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Support the onboarding and induction of new starters.
• Conduct regular field audits covering equipment, vehicles, uniforms and health & safety standards.
• Carry out one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
• Investigate and resolve customer, client and employee issues and complaints.
• Monitor van check compliance and address any issues identified.
• Monitor lone worker device systems and ensure colleagues remain safe while working remotely.
• Identify opportunities for service improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Build positive relationships with customers, clients and internal stakeholders.
