Job summary

South Staffordshire Water is hiring a Meter Reader to join our field-based team covering the Cambridge Water region. You will travel to customer properties, take accurate meter readings, and help ensure correct billing while upholding excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
• Ability to work independently within a field-based team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when recording information.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect water meter readings from customer properties across the region
• Complete all assigned meter reading schedules within the month to ensure compliance with Guaranteed Standards Scheme (GSS) requirements
• Ensure meter data is recorded correctly and updated on company systems
• Engage professionally with customers, answering queries and providing excellent service
• Identify and report unusual consumption patterns, potential leaks, and faulty or damaged meters
• Recognise and appropriately support vulnerable customers where required
• Represent South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water in a professional and positive manner
• Work efficiently to complete daily schedules while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer satisfaction

Key Responsibilities
