Job description

Here within our Dispersed Accommodation Contract, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Officer with strong interpersonal skills to work on a Fixed Term Contract initially. We focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system, ensuring that vulnerable asylum seekers have access to the support they need along with accommodation.

In this role you will ensure that all properties within your allocated portfolio are safe, habitable, fit for purpose and fully equipped, completing first fix for faults e.g., topping up boiler pressure - and ensuring that all Service Users maintain compliance with the conditions of their support provision. You will also manage on-boarding and withdrawal of properties as required and operate on an ‘Emergency On-Call’ system outside of normal working hours in rotation with fellow Housing Officers.

This is a role which requires excellent organisational skills due to the variety of accountabilities, which also include the following:

  • Administering operational cash
  • Ensuring accommodation is ready for new inductions
  • De-escalation and managing conflict

In short you will be a key member of the Housing Officer team and as such you will be self-motivated and able to use your own initiative working to tight timescales, resilient and can communicate effectively as this role is lone working.

What you will need to do the role

Good interpersonal skills are required as you will be working with people where English is not their first language, so experience of dealing with people on a face-to-face basis is essential.

You will work flexibly on day shifts so you must have a willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK. A valid UK driver’s licence is essential as you will pick-up and transport service users from their initial location to their allocated property using the company vehicle provided.

You will be allocated to a field office location, where you would collect a company pool vehicle to visit properties across the area within your working day, at the end of which you would return the vehicle to site. You would be responsible for 60-65 property portfolio and conduct up to five inspections per day, as well as facilitating an induction with Service Users or attending emergencies where required.

Lastly, due to the nature of the role a DBS is required.

Working hours

  • 37.5 hours per week over 5 days.
  • 7.5 hours per day, 30-minute unpaid break.
  • Flexible between 8am to 6pm.
  • Monday to Sunday, on a rota basis your manager would inform you.

What is in it for you?

  • Weekly pay
  • Access to Employee assistance program
  • Fantastic career development opportunities
  • Free of charge DBS
  • Access to enhanced pension
