Job description

As a Family Support Worker in Liverpool, you will play a critical role in providing practical and emotional support to families and children facing challenging circumstances. Your primary objective will be to improve the well-being of families by helping them access necessary resources and services, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes. You will work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to deliver tailored support plans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Working with families to identify their needs through comprehensive assessments, ensuring a holistic approach to their circumstances.
  2. Collaborating with families to create individualised support plans that address their specific needs and goals, focusing on empowerment and self-sufficiency.
  3. Offering practical assistance and emotional support to families, helping them navigate challenges related to parenting, housing, education, and financial stability.
  4. Acting as a liaison between families and external agencies, advocating on their behalf to ensure they receive appropriate services and resources.
  5. Responding promptly to crisis situations, providing immediate support and interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of family members.
  6. Organising and facilitating workshops and group activities aimed at improving parenting skills, building community connections, and enhancing family dynamics.
  7. Regularly reviewing and updating support plans, tracking the progress of families, and adjusting interventions as necessary.
  8. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of interactions and progress reports, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and families, particularly in a support or advocacy role.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with diverse families.
  • A genuine passion for supporting families and a non-judgmental approach to working with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with a proactive attitude toward overcoming obstacles.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. If you are on the update service, you could be fast-tracked through our recruitment process today.
