Job summary

A local government authority in the United Kingdom is seeking a Family Support Worker specializing in locality and early years to join their team. About the Role

We have an exciting opportunities for you to join our team, Family Support Worker with a Locality Specialism and Early Years.

We work across the Charnwood area and work alongside other agencies such as health, schools, social care and community organisations to support children and their families.

You will support them doing one to one work in the home, or may see them running drop in sessions or groups within our Family Hubs, come and join our team and help improve outcomes for our Children and their Families…

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

Please note that there are 5 roles available as detailed below – please indicate your preference when applying.

  • 37 hours per week, Permanent
  • 37 hours per week, Fixed term / Secondment until 31 st July 2026
  • 37 hours per week, Fixed term / Secondment for 31 st December 2026
  • 29.6 hours per week, Permanent
  • 22.2 hours per week, Permanent.
About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, e.g. social care, health or childcare, OR substantial experience in providing direct support to families that clearly demonstrates the experience, skills, competencies and knowledge outlined below
  • Experience of identifying and delivering appropriate evidence-based interventions, groups and clinics
  • Knowledge of child development and Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Experience of carrying out assessments, support planning, formulating action plans and reporting outcomes
  • An understanding of the impact of discrimination on the lives of those from minority ethnic communities and others that experience social exclusion, and an ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Proven ability to recognise Child Protection issues and Safeguarding practice
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment

Some of the roles have a specialism in 0-5 therefore we would welcome applicants who have an early years background with excellent understanding of child development, baby brain development, bonding and attachment and the significance of the first 1001 critical days.

You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.

In addition, we expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the interview process.
