Job summary

The Education Authority in Northern Ireland is seeking a Building Supervisor to provide on-site supervision, cleaning and related services in school premises under the direction of the line manager.

You will ensure security of the building, operate alarms, manage cleaning staff and equipment, handle porterage and basic administration, and support safe, clean environments for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Security: Open/close premises and grounds, ensure doors/windows are locked, manage keys and monitor security systems.
• Mechanical and Electrical Services: Operate boiler/heating, monitor fuel and utilities, inspect firefighting equipment.
• Cleaning: Plan and supervise cleaning staff, maintain standards, replenish supplies, prepare premises for activities.
• Porterage: Move stores and materials, despatch goods, prepare rooms for examinations.
• Administration: Prepare reports, manage paperwork, maintain stock records, supervise outside contractors.
• Handyperson Duties: Within the post-holder's competence.
• General Conditions: Comply with HSW NI Order 1978, statutory regulations and COSHH.
• Training: Carry out induction and refresher training for cleaning staff.
• Elections: Carry out duties as required for elections.
• Other Duties: Falls within grade as required.
