Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a proactive Facilities Officer to support the delivery of high-quality services across council buildings and community spaces.

You will monitor condition, safety, and compliance, manage contractor relationships, supervise staff, and help drive budgets, procurement, and KPI reporting in a busy, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities management, property management, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong staff management and leadership abilities.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements in facilities environments.
• Able to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor condition, performance, safety, security and cleanliness of council buildings and facilities.
• Support planned and reactive maintenance works.
• Conduct site inspections and identify issues.
• Ensure effective KPI reporting and building user liaison.
• Liaise with contractors to ensure works meet standards.
• Assist in health and safety compliance oversight.
• Respond to inquiries, incidents and service requests.
• Support facilities budgets and procurement processes.
• Manage and develop operational staff including facilities assistants and cleaners.
• Maintain records and performance data.
• Collaborate with council services, customers and external partners.
