Job summary

Barchester Care Home is seeking a Head of Maintenance to ensure a clean, well-maintained environment for residents and staff. You will lead the maintenance team, handle diverse tasks in the building and grounds, and collaborate with contractors on external projects.

You’ll support the General Manager with budgeting, manage safety and compliance, and work confidently both independently and as a team leader. A full UK driving licence and IT literacy are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in property maintenance.
• At least one trade skill.
• Full UK driving licence, IT literacy, GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead a maintenance team and manage a range of tasks within the care home, gardens and grounds.
• Liaise with contractors for work outside the team’s expertise.
• Assist the General Manager with annual budget planning and cost control.
• Ensure safety and compliance across all maintenance activities.
