Job summary

Vita Student in Edinburgh is seeking a hands-on caretaker/handyperson to keep our residential building running smoothly. You will walk the building daily, manage maintenance requests, and coordinate with engineers as needed. This is a permanent, full-time role, 42.5 hours per week, with an early-evening start and a Monday–Friday pattern.

Salary £28,500 per year plus a performance bonus and benefits. You’ll spend your day on your feet, tackling repairs, upkeep and safety checks to ensure

Responsibilities

• Clear blocked showers and sinks; fix dripping taps and running toilets.
• Refresh worn sealant or grout.
• Replace failed or flickering light bulbs; escalate electrical issues.
• Sort out doors, handles or locks and renew batteries.
• Repair appliances from fridges to ovens; arrange replacements.
• Repair furniture like wobbly desks or broken drawers.
• Paint scuffed walls and secure loose trims.
• Check heating and windows; report issues and arrange specialist if needed.
