Job summary

Vita Group is seeking a practical caretaker/handyperson for Vita Student in Coventry. You will perform hands-on repairs, ensure bathrooms, lights, doors and appliances function, and support safety checks across the building.

This is a day-shift, on-site role with training provided. You’ll walk the building with the management team, tackle everyday fixes, manage tickets, and help maintain a welcoming environment for residents.

Qualifications

• Some hands-on experience such as a trades or college course, apprenticeship, handyperson or caretaking role.
• Willingness to use basic hand and power tools safely.
• Confident using a smartphone or tablet to pick up and update jobs; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Walk the building with the management team to identify issues in communal spaces and resolve or log them.
• Daily plant room checks for leaks or anomalies; report immediately.
• Check building management system alarms and coordinate with engineers when required.
• Handle everyday student tickets, work through tickets daily and keep a tidy log of progress.
• Perform routine upkeep outside and inside, including painting, grounds care and minor repairs.
