Job summary

Vita Student in Lewisham is hiring for a hands-on Maintenance / Caretaking role. Permanent, full-time, 42.5 hours per week, 9am–6pm, Monday to Friday. Salary £30,000 plus a performance-related annual bonus and benefits.

You’ll inspect the building, fix fixtures, replace bulbs, handle minor repairs, manage tickets from students, and support safety checks. Training provided; no prior student accommodation experience required. You’ll be part of a vibrant global community and enjoy benefits.

Qualifications

• Some hands-on experience, such as a trade or college course, an apprenticeship, handyperson or DIY work, or a caretaking or maintenance job. No student accommodation experience needed.
• Happy using basic hand and power tools safely.
• Confident using a smartphone or tablet to pick up and update jobs (we’ll train you on our systems).
• Willing to learn and follow health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Keep bathrooms in great shape by fixing fixtures and leaks, replacing worn seals and components.
• Replace failed or flickering lightbulbs and handle simple electrical issues with supervision.
• Sort out everyday niggles like sticking doors, loose handles or doors that need attention.
• Inspect appliances and arrange repairs or replacements where needed.
• Repair or replace furniture and refresh living spaces as required.
• Paint and decorate to keep studios and corridors looking fresh.
• Investigate heating/window issues and involve specialists when needed.
