Job summary

Vita Group’s Vita Student division in Lewisham is seeking a practical Maintenance Assistant to help keep a busy student residence in top condition. The role covers day-to-day upkeep, safety checks, and responsive ticket-based tasks, with a focus on delivering a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm, with 42.5 hours per week. The package includes £30,000 per year plus an annual performance bonus and benefits, and a structured training programme

Qualifications

• Some hands-on experience in trade, maintenance, caretaking or DIY work.
• Comfortable using basic hand and power tools safely.
• Confident using a smartphone or tablet to pick up and update jobs (we’ll train you on our systems).
• Willing to learn and follow health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Keep bathrooms in good shape by fixing leaks, drips and worn seals.
• Replace failed or flickering lightbulbs and escalate complex electrical issues.
• Sort out everyday niggles like doors, locks and handles.
• Maintain appliances and arrange repairs or replacements as needed.
• Paint and decorate living spaces and common areas.
• Look after exterior areas: bins, paths, and grounds.
