Job summary

The Bedford Hotel Belfast is recruiting a Food & Beverage Assistant to join our boutique team in Belfast. You will deliver breakfast and lunch service in The Nineteen Hundred Restaurant and Café Bar, ensuring outstanding guest experiences and accurate communication with kitchen and bar staff.

You will develop a solid knowledge of menus, ingredients and allergens, assist with setup, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in food & beverage within a hotel is preferred.
• Strong customer service with attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible weekend shifts and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver breakfast and lunch service for The Nineteen Hundred Restaurant and Café Bar.
• Provide warm, friendly customer service and guest satisfaction.
• Assist with daily restaurant setup and preparation for service.
• Know menus, specials, ingredients and allergens to answer guest questions.
• Take food & beverage orders and communicate with kitchen and bar promptly.
• Ensure high standards of preparation and presentation for each section.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and food safety in front-of-house and back-of-house areas.
• Handle cash, charge, float and till procedures per policy.
• Prepare back-of-house service points for expected breakfast and lunch numbers.
• Maintain professional relationships with all hotel departments.

Who Are We?

The Bedford Hotel Belfast is a prestigious boutique hotel set within the iconic Scottish Mutual Building in the heart of the city. Home to 82 beautifully appointed bedrooms, The Nineteen Hundred Restaurant and Café Bar, and The Ledger Library private events space, The Bedford Hotel is setting new standards for hospitality in Northern Ireland.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Food & Beverage Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering breakfast and lunch service within The Nineteen Hundred Restaurant and Café Bar, ensuring exceptional service standards are delivered and always maintained in line with our guest expectations.

• Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
• Take responsibility for ensuring guests receive a high standard of service throughout their dining experience, responding promptly and professionally to their needs.
• Assist with the daily set up of the restaurant, ensuring they are fully prepared for service.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of all food and beverage offerings, including menus, specials, ingredients, and allergens to confidently answer guest enquiries and make recommendations.
• Take food and beverage orders and ensure that orders are communicated to the kitchen and bar promptly and accurately.
• Ensure that the preparation and presentation of each section is of a highstandard andis in line with the standards set.
• Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety within front-of-house and back-of-house areas at all times.
• Ensure all cash, charge, float and till procedures are carried out in line with agreed procedures.
• Prepare all back of house service points with regard to expected numbers for breakfast and lunch requirements as necessary.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with all departments in the hotel.

Key Requirements:

• PreviousFood & Beverageexperience, preferably within a hotel environment.
• Strong customer service skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible approach to working shifts, including weekends. Typical shift times are 0700-1530. There is flexibility regarding the number of shifts and potential finish times.
• Friendly, approachable, and professional manner.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering excellent guest experiences.
