I am working with a school in Widnes seeking an EYFS Specialist to join their team immediately. The school is a SEND institution catering to primary-aged students across two Halton sites, all with Severe Learning Difficulties such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. Many students have sensory processing disorders and may require sensory and emotional support, including time away from the classroom.
The school features sensory and breakout rooms and a large outdoor area for sensory activities. The successful candidate will primarily work on the Widnes site but may occasionally work at the Runcorn site. You will be assigned to a small Key Stage 2 classroom of 7-8 students, supported by one teacher and two other Teaching Assistants. The role involves working both inside and outside the classroom on a 1:1 basis. Some students have PICA syndrome, requiring vigilance and quick response, and some are non-verbal, so experience with alternative communication methods is desirable. Personal care assistance may also be required.
