Job summary

Yorkshire Housing in Wakefield is seeking an Extra Care Scheme Manager to oversee a modern extra care scheme, ensuring residents have a warm, safe, supportive home and seamless access to services. You’ll coordinate lettings, tenancy sign-ups and service delivery while collaborating with health professionals and partners.

The role focuses on safeguarding, independence planning, and delivering excellent customer service for older residents, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and compliance.

Qualifications

The design of the scheme is highly innovative - based around a central atrium it incorporates the latest thinking in the design of extra care housing. It creates an attractive and stimulating environment for older people whilst enabling them to retain their independence.

As an Extra Care Scheme Manager, you’d be working with stakeholders and providers to ensure we have the best facilities in place to support our customers, a real job to be proud of!

What you’ll be getting up to
  • Daily, you’ll ensure the scheme is warm, welcoming and is a home to be proud of – this is a biggie!
  • You’ll attend allocation panel meetings, ensuring appropriate lettings are made according to the allocations panel waiting list and YH policy
  • You’ll be responsible for allocating properties, including conducting sign-ups (issuing tenancies, ensuring all documentation is completed and procedures are followed), inducting new customers into the scheme and advising of all YH services – a true friendly face to customers, old and new!
  • Regularly review customers rent, service charge, supporting people and sundry accounts to ensure proper control of income collection
  • You’ll manage any tenancy issues for example low-level ASB, disputes between tenants, enforcing scooter policy etc
  • You’ll be responsible for the management of health and safety, including fire safety, in accordance with YH policies, ensuring all risk assessments are completed and regular checks are carried out and documented appropriately – ensuring everyone is safe and we’re fully compliant!
  • Assessing needs and risks to customers, you’ll develop appropriate Independence Plans, signpost and refer to other agencies and conduct wellbeing checks as agreed.
  • A natural collaborator, you’ll build and maintain close partnership working with health professionals, social workers, support agencies and relatives in order to meet customer needs
  • You’ll monitor and alert to any safeguarding issues in line with YH policies
  • You’ll manage and direct the workload of scheme cleaners including one to ones, recruitment and induction and ensure required training is undertaken
  • You’ll develop and maintain positive working relationships with partner organisations on site in order to ensure high quality services to customers, including monitoring performance against agreed KPIs.

  • An understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity and how this is applied through our service to customers and colleagues.

  • Understanding of domiciliary care services
  • Experience in of working in an Extra care scheme setting
  • Experience of managing/supervising staff
  • Experience of working in the housing sector
  • Relevant qualifications to the role
