Air Export Operations Coordinator

We are partnering with a successful and growing logistics provider seeking an Air Export Operations Coordinator to join their Southampton-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-paced international operation where you'll play a key role in ensuring air export shipments are delivered efficiently, compliantly and to the highest service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage air export shipments from booking through to departure.
- Coordinate airline bookings and secure the most suitable routing and rates.
- Prepare and process all export documentation, including HAWBs, MAWBs, customs declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists and Dangerous Goods paperwork where required.
- Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, airline requirements, aviation security procedures and international trade standards.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any operational issues.
- Arrange collections and deliveries with approved transport partners.
- Provide timely updates to customers and overseas agents throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Ensure cargo is correctly manifested and customs-cleared ahead of departure.
- Handle specialist cargo requirements, including temperature-controlled, dangerous goods, high-value and time-critical shipments.
- Build strong and lasting relationships with customers by delivering exceptional service levels.
- Support quotation requests and respond effectively to customer enquiries.
- Work closely with key clients to achieve agreed service expectations and KPIs.
About You
- Previous experience within Air Export Operations, Freight Forwarding or Air Freight logistics.
- A strong understanding of international air freight procedures and export documentation.
- Knowledge of export customs processes and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using freight forwarding or transport management systems.
- Knowledge of CDS export entries.
- Dangerous Goods awareness or certification.
- Understanding of aviation security regulations.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade compliance.
