Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Events team at Utilita Arena Sheffield. As one of our Event Managers, you will be responsible for planning and delivering events by liaising with tour reps and event organisers to ensure their event is delivered in a coordinated and safe manner. This is the perfect role for someone with experience of working on a mixed programme of events from a live entertainment venue, looking to grow their career with a global business and be part of a fantastic venue team. Please note: this role is a 12 months fixed‑term maternity contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Duty Manager for events – leading the live delivery and managing front of house, security, stewards, hosts, medical teams, tech, and ensuring a safe and successful event.
  • Lead public safety during events – ensuring safety checks, logging occurrences, and upholding licensing conditions.
  • Liaise with all internal venue departments – ensuring accurate information is shared for smooth event delivery.
  • Provide promoters and organisers with venue information and manage them through planning to delivery, ensuring strong client service and clear communication.
  • Ensure contractors, staff and supplies are booked on time, accurate and aligned with requirements – keeping events adequately resourced.
  • Always ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations (and relevant training) – protecting staff, guests and the business.
  • Be responsible for the administrative and practical preparation of events within the Venue – including music shows, comedy, theatre events, conferences, exhibitions, dinners, meetings and parties.
  • Ensure event costs are accurately tracked, recharged and approved.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working in an events‑based environment, ideally within a similar multi‑purpose space.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to work flexibly under pressure.
  • Strong people management skills – vital for leading casual staff, contractors and internal teams.
  • A high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues regarding venue management and event management – ensures compliance and safe delivery.
  • Experience of planning, designing and operating multiple event types (music, comedy, theatre, corporate, etc.) – breadth of operational know‑how.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills – crucial for working with promoters, clients and internal stakeholders.
