Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks an ESME Application Engineer to lead the manufacturing design and optimization of the Energy Store and its main enclosure. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency while developing robust assembly instructions.

The role requires a hands-on engineering mindset, project leadership, and experience in high-performance automotive environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
2+ years of battery pack assembly engineering experience.
Experience programming industrial robots.
Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
Strong communication skills and ability to lead projects.
Experience in automotive/high-performance industries is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Lead design and optimize manufacturing process of Energy Store (ES) and ES Main Enclosure (ESME).
Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety.
Develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures with QA.
Contribute to design process of ES and ESME to achieve Built-In Quality.
Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings.
Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
Document and communicate assembly process developments clearly.
Collaborate with ERS Assembly Manager and HV Safety Supervisor on standards.
