Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking an Environmental Health Technical Assistant in Hamilton on a 22-month temporary post. The role focuses on enforcing littering and dog fouling laws, including patrols and possible court appearances.

Strong literacy, numerical and IT skills are required, with a driver’s licence and ability to travel within the South Lanarkshire area. You will support the Dog Warden role and provide coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent literacy, numerical and IT skills.
• Ability to organise workload effectively.
• Experience working with the public, animals (dogs) and enforcement duties.

Responsibilities

• Enforce relevant legislation on littering and dog fouling.
• Conduct patrols and serve fixed penalties where appropriate.
• Occasionally appear in court regarding offences witnessed.
