Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council in Hamilton is recruiting an Environmental Health Technical Assistant to lead enforcement on littering and dog fouling and support the Dog Warden role. You will patrol, issue fixed penalties and may appear in court when required.

Excellent literacy, numerical and IT skills are essential, with the ability to manage workloads effectively. A driver’s licence and willingness to travel around the South Lanarkshire area are required.

We are seeking to appoint a assertive, enthusiastic and self-motivated Environmental Health Technical Assistant who can accept and tackle demanding goals. The Assistant will be motivated in bringing changes to people’s behaviour in terms of littering and dog fouling. They will also provide cover and support to the Dog Warden role.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent literacy, numerical and IT skills and have the ability to organise your workload in an effective and productive way.

Ideally you will have experience working with the public, animals (dogs) and carrying out enforcement duties in order to join our specialist team dealing with a range of Environmental Crime.

Day to day duties will include the enforcement of relevant legislation in respect of anti-social behaviour concerning littering and dog fouling, which will include conducting patrols and the serving of fixed penalty notices. There is also the potential you will appear in court on behalf of the Council to speak to either the dog fouling or littering offences you have witnessed.

You must have the ability to travel around the South Lanarkshire area and you will need to have a driver’s licence.
