Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks an environmental construction consultant delivery lead to join our Environmental Management & Assessment team. This role focuses on moving clients from consent into delivery, coordinating licences, permits, and planning requirements to enable construction and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in pre-construction and construction environmental management and delivery.
• Understanding of the transition from primary consent to construction and discharge of requirements.
• Experience working client-side, consultant-side or contractor-side during pre-construction and construction phases.
• Establishing governance, reporting and assurance processes to manage environmental commitments and construction risks.
• Coordinating secondary permits, licences and consents across major infrastructure projects.
• Strong programme awareness and ability to understand dependencies and delivery milestones.

Responsibilities

• Lead the growth of environmental construction and secondary consents capability, identifying market opportunities.
• Oversee identification, scoping and programming of environmental construction and secondary consent requirements.
• Act as a focal point for environmental construction delivery, providing leadership and consistency across projects.
• Act as Project Director or senior strategic lead on post-consent and construction commissions to ensure safe, profitable delivery.
• Advise on discharge of environmental planning conditions and DCO requirements.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance processes throughout design development stages.
• Collaborate with planners and project controls teams to integrate secondary consent activities into project programmes.
• Forecast demand, identify resource constraints and develop capability-building plans.
