Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Environmental Construction Consultant Delivery Lead to join the Environmental Management & Assessment team in the UK. This role focuses on moving clients from consent to delivery by coordinating environmental licences, permits and planning obligations to enable construction.

The role combines technical advisory with delivery leadership, driving programme awareness, governance and risk management across major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in pre-construction and construction environmental management and delivery.
• Knowledge of secondary consents, licences and DCO requirements.
• Strong governance, reporting and assurance processes for environmental commitments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead growth of environmental construction and secondary consents capability.
• Oversee identification, scoping and programming of environmental requirements.
• Act as focal point for environmental construction delivery across projects.
• Serve as Project Director or senior strategic lead on post-consent work.
• Advise on discharge of planning conditions and DCO requirements.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance processes.
• Integrate secondary consent activities into project programmes.
• Forecast demand and develop resourcing plans; mentor junior staff.
• Promote safe, inclusive, and high-quality delivery culture.
