Job summary

Markel is seeking an Underwriting Support Assistant for a 15-month FTC in Leeds with hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 days at home). You will support Underwriters, handle admin tasks, and gather risk information to aid renewal files.

This role offers training, exposure to specialist markets, and clear progression pathways within a growing team. Ideal candidates are recent graduates or those with customer service or admin experience, eager to learn and develop in a professional insurance

Qualifications

• Highly organised and detail-focused approach.
• Comfortable communicating with a range of people.
• Experience in customer service, administration or office roles is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support Underwriters with day-to-day administration.
• Run workflow reports and allocate tasks across the team.
• Prepare renewal files and gather key risk information.
• Coordinate property and risk surveys.
• Review and track survey requirements.
• Research and collate information such as CQC reports and supporting documentation.
• Manage incoming calls, messages and broker enquiries.
• Follow up outstanding information with brokers.
• Update internal systems and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and wider team initiatives.
