Job summary

Markel is seeking an ambitious Underwriting Support Assistant to join our Renewal Connect Team in Leeds. This role offers a structured path into underwriting, exposure to a wide range of commercial insurance products and funding for CII qualifications, with hybrid working and strong internal promotion opportunities.

You'll provide high-quality administrative and technical support to a busy renewals underwriting team, handling a large portfolio of commercial renewals while delivering excellent

Qualifications

• Previous experience within commercial insurance, underwriting support, broker operations, claims, insurance administration or financial services.
• Strong organisational and workload management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong Microsoft Office and general systems skills.
• A proactive and positive approach to teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support to the Renewal Connect underwriting team.
• Manage and process commercial insurance renewals accurately.
• Enter and maintain information across multiple underwriting systems.
• Liaise with brokers by telephone and email regarding renewal information.
• Follow up outstanding documentation and renewal requirements.
• Requesting and reviewing survey reports and managing associated actions.
• Managing workflow queues, diary items and post-renewal activities.
• Handling internal and external queries in a professional manner.
• Supporting wider underwriting and business improvement projects as required.
