Job summary

Markel's Underwriting Care Renewals Team in Leeds is offering an entry-level role as an Underwriting Support Assistant on a 15-month FTC, with hybrid working (3 days in the office / 2 days at home).

You'll support underwriters, handle admin, renewals, risk information, surveys and broker queries while learning insurance and pursuing an underwriting career.

We welcome graduates or those with customer service experience; full training and clear progression opportunities exist within Markel.

Qualifications

• Organised, detail-focused and able to prioritise tasks.
• Experience in customer service, administration or office roles.
• Willing to learn and develop in insurance; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriters with day-to-day admin.
• Run workflow reports and allocate team tasks.
• Prepare renewal files and gather risk information.
• Coordinate property and risk surveys.
• Review survey requirements and related documentation.
• Research and collate information such as CQC reports.
• Manage incoming calls, messages and broker enquiries.
• Follow up outstanding information with brokers.
• Update internal systems and maintain records.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and wider team initiatives.
