Markel is seeking an Underwriting Support Assistant in Leeds, offering hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 days at home) on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract with a salary plus a 5% completion bonus. You will support the PMR Renewals team, handle broker inquiries, progress renewals, and assist underwriters in policy administration.

The role welcomes candidates from customer service backgrounds and fosters training to develop underwriting skills in a global insurance business.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service is beneficial, but not essential.
• Strong communication, organisation and customer service skills are valued.

Responsibilities

• Manage inbound broker enquiries with outstanding service.
• Make proactive outbound calls to brokers to progress and retain business.
• Chase quotations, renewal terms and required information.
• Support underwriters with policy administration and workflow management.
• Update systems and maintain accurate records.
• Manage your own renewal activity portfolio and priorities.
• Build strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Assist retention and growth by converting opportunities into business.
• Ensure cases progress efficiently and meet service standards.
