Level 4 Teaching Assistant, English Specialist – Oldham – September Start

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced HLTA to work at an alternative provision on the outskirts of Oldham, supporting students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs. This role involves working within the English department on a 1:1 or small group basis for the entire 2024/2025 academic year, on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading sessions and acting as the class teacher when required.
• Delivering engaging lessons and fostering a calm, positive atmosphere.

Position Details:

• Position: HLTA
• Duration: Full academic year
• Contract type: Temporary
• Working hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (term time only)
• Minimum pay rate: £110

Qualifications and Experience:

• HLTA experience and a relevant HLTA qualification are essential.
• Experience working with students with SEMH needs.
• Experience in secondary schools is essential.
• Up-to-date safeguarding training (issued within the last 12 months).
• Prevent awareness training (issued within the last 3 years).
• FGM training (essential).
• Strong behaviour management skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Right to work in the UK.
• Eligibility to work full-time in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Minimum of two professional references.
