Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a University Teacher to teach on degree apprenticeship programmes in manufacturing and engineering. You will develop curricula in Mould and Tooling Design, select teaching methods and resources, and provide high-quality feedback as a module lead.

Proven teaching ability and a qualification are preferred. You will design and deliver modules, assess student work, and contribute to programme development within the AMRC Training Centre.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in manufacturing or engineering (assessed at application).
• PhD or EngD in a relevant subject area, or significant graduate level vocational experience (assessed at application and interview).
• Proven teaching ability, ideally with a teaching qualification; or demonstrable experience of working in an engineering context (assessed at application and microteach).
• Experience of designing, developing and delivering high quality teaching resources (assessed at microteach and interview).
• Experience of managing students in teaching and assessment contexts and providing high quality feedback (assessed at microteach and interview).
• Enthusiasm to deliver university teaching to a high standard across Training Centre topics (assessed at microteach and interview).
• Ability to analyse and solve problems with longer-term implications (assessed at application and interview).
• Plan and progress work activities to meet deadlines (assessed at application and interview).

Responsibilities

• Design teaching programmes with learning objectives and resources.
• Deliver teaching modules and provide academic feedback.
• Supervise and assess student projects and dissertations.
• Carry out assessment design, marking and moderation; liaise with external examiners.
• Reflect on teaching design and delivery for improvement.
• Tutor responsibilities directing students to university support services.
• Establish collaborations with academic and industrial partners for high-quality apprenticeships.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in education theory and practice.
