Job summary

The University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre is seeking a Tutor to design, deliver and assess engineering learning for Advanced and Higher apprenticeships using active learning techniques in a classroom setting.

You will teach a range of units, deliver high-quality sessions, and support apprentices to achieve outcomes while working with the broader team to improve curriculum and learning plans.

Qualifications

• Have a Level 4, or higher, qualification in Engineering / your subject area, or evidence of relevant industrial experience.
• Proven teaching/training ability, ideally with a teaching qualification.
• Ability to plan and deliver effective teaching/training sessions, supporting apprentices to meet learning outcomes.
• Confidence to challenge apprentice behaviour in class and maintain a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching in engineering subjects using active learning strategies.
• Reflect on teaching practice and seek improvement through feedback.
• Manage apprentices in the classroom and keep sessions engaging.
• Devise and apply a range of assessment activities, including formative assessment.
• Assess apprentices' work and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.
• Write, develop, and monitor learning plans for apprentices and update them as required.
• Contribute to curriculum and unit development and to the creation of schemes of work.
