Job summary

The University of Sheffield's AMRC Training Centre seeks an Engineering Workplace Coach to support apprentices in on-site and workplace learning. You will coordinate learning targets, assessments, and reviews with apprentices and employers, helping them develop knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree and relevant industrial experience (machining preferred), with assessor/verifier qualifications or willingness to work

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 6 qualification in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience of technical work in a mechatronics maintenance or machining engineering setting.
  • Assessor, Teaching, Internal Quality Assurance qualifications or willingness to work towards them.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong IT literacy and ability to use modern teaching tools.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out onboarding reviews and skills scans for apprentices.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to learners for career development.
  • Develop and deliver effective teaching, coaching and assessment practices.
  • Conduct tri-partite learner progress reviews and ensure employer involvement.
  • Monitor 4 weekly active learning and track Off The Job % for compliance.
  • Ensure apprentices meet end dates and end point assessment schedules.
  • Support personal and professional development aligned with apprenticeship standards.
  • Provide progress information to employers and address at-risk learners promptly.
  • Ensure curriculum assessments and reviews meet AMRC quality standards.
