Job summary

Get Recruited are partnering with a growing engineering business to appoint a Business Development Manager for the Basingstoke area. You will inherit an established accounts portfolio, develop new opportunities and contribute to shaping the future of the sales function.

The role blends office work with hands-on customer visits across the local region, collaborating with Operations, Design Engineers and the shop floor to deliver excellent service and solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in Technical Sales or Business Development roles.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or technical products beneficial.
• Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
• Comfortable visiting customers face-to-face.
• Commercially aware with growth opportunities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Highly organised with attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn from leaders.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage long-term relationships with an established portfolio of customers.
• Learn the company's products, services and capabilities through mentoring from the MD.
• Visit customers on-site to understand requirements and identify commercial opportunities.
• Generate new business opportunities through networking, lead generation and marketing activity.
• Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial solutions tailored to customer requirements.
• Work closely with Operations Manager and production team to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to develop bespoke customer solutions.
• Manage the full sales process from enquiry through to order and ongoing account management.
• Maintain regular customer contact to maximise repeat business and identify upselling opportunities.
• Represent the business professionally at customer meetings and industry events where required.
• Help shape and develop the future sales strategy as the business expands.
