Job summary

The University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre is seeking an Engineering Workplace Coach to help coordinate on- and off-the-job learning and assessments for engineering apprentices. Reviews occur in the workplace with employer input to set targets and monitor progress.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree with relevant industrial experience (machining preferred) and may be a qualified Workplace Coach with assessor/verifier qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 6 qualification in engineering or related discipline.
• Assessor qualification, Teaching qualification, IQA or willingness to work towards this qualification.
• Experience providing advice, guidance and support to learners for success.
• Strong communication skills with staff and learners at all levels.
• Competent IT use (laptops, tablets, smartphones) as part of daily work.
• Excellent time management to meet KPIs and priorities.
• Ability to travel to employer sites and organise resources.

Responsibilities

• Carry out onboarding reviews ensuring skills scans and training plans are understood.
• Provide information, advice and guidance to learners for career development.
• Develop and deliver effective teaching, coaching and assessment practices.
• Conduct tri-partite learner progress reviews in the workplace with employers present.
• Monitor 4 weekly active learning and Off The Job % to stay compliant.
• Ensure end dates and end point assessments are met for caseloads.
• Support development curriculum linked to apprenticeship standards.
• Report learner progress to employers and identify those at risk.
• Ensure assessments and reviews meet AMRC quality standards.
• Capture feedback and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
