Job summary

Santander is seeking an Associate in Energy Structured Finance for the SCIB division in London. The role supports lending and debt advisory, contributing to strategy, marketing, client engagement, and vendor/partner management within a front-office energy team.

You will engage in idea generation, structure debt funding solutions, and coordinate processes with internal teams across regions. Strong modelling, proposal writing, and relationship-building are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role within Structured Finance.
• Specific knowledge and interest in the energy sector is desirable.
• In-depth understanding of debt, equity and derivative markets and solutions.
• Demonstrable track record of building productive business relationships.
• Experience of writing proposals and supporting business development activities.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts to a senior audience.
• Modelling skills and proficiency in MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to idea generation by understanding client needs and objectives, pitching opportunities to them working jointly with the team head and other areas of CIB such as Debt Capital Markets, Ratings Advisory and Risk Solutions
• Acting as a facilitator between the client and different lending platforms/solutions such as Banks, Debt Funds, Pensions Funds, enabling them to source find the most adequate and competitive sources of funding
• Supporting the execution of new and existing mandates, across both lending and debt advisory
• Assisting in the structuring and placement of debt financing, including preparation of a financial model, interfacing with due diligence providers and lawyers, preparing marketing materials, and managing the coordination of the process
• Reviewing diligence materials, model and documentation, negotiating terms with our client or their advisors, and presenting the transaction to internal credit and pricing committees
• Building strong and long-lasting relationships with key clients and keeping abreast of the current issues and challenges facing our clients in the energy sector
• Understanding current and future client needs in the context of market dynamics and apply insights to recommend short and/or long-term solutions and services
