Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Endoscopy Flow Coordinator to join the Endoscopy team. The role focuses on coordinating inpatient flow for endoscopy procedures, working with clinicians to prioritise and manage patient pathways and ensure timely assessments.

The post supports nursing staff in daily coordination, with a focus on effective communication, prioritisation of workload, and maintaining high standards of patient care within a busy, accredited unit.

Qualifications

• Literacy & numeracy to GCSE level.
• NVQ3/Diploma or equivalent qualification level or relevant work-based experience.
• Competent and experienced in the use of IT, including keyboard skills and Microsoft Office Packages
• Ability and willingness to learn new IT processes and systems
• Ability and willingness to undertake on the job training
• To demonstrate ability to develop and refine new processes to improve current systems.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage the patient flow from arrival to departure within Endoscopy.
• Provide accurate, updated information on daily activity within Endoscopy.
• To gain an awareness of infection risks, preventing the spread to other patients through isolation processes.
• Communicate effectively with the ward team and other invested stakeholders.
• Attend and aid the facilitation of the departmental huddles and other meetings as required.
• To elevate concerns to the Endoscopy Nurse in Charge for patient safety issues.
• Ensure the effective transition and communication of patient details for inter-hospital transfers.
• Support in the identification and pre-empt daily flow challenges and escalating to the nurse in charge/operations team.
• Actively be involved in creating and implementing Standard Operating Policies linked with patient flow to improve services.
• Build strong relationships with admin, clinical and management staff and maintain excellent communication channels and good customer services.
• To courteously, efficiently and promptly receive telephone enquiries and provide accurate information to answer queries around patient journeys and the status of the department.
