Job summary

Riverside is seeking a Support Worker in Gloucester to provide supported services, connecting customers with employability coaches, assisting with money management, benefits sign-ups, and moving towards permanent housing.

The role requires empathy, resilience and the ability to work as part of a team, with a 37.5-hour week and a 3-week rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with vulnerable people.
• Structured support and risk management.
• Team player with a caring and empathetic nature with a resilient, can-do attitude.
• Understanding of supporting vulnerable people – this could include having lived experience of homelessness or addiction.
• Ability to work flexible hours to meet customer and business needs, which may include lone working.

Responsibilities

• Connect customers with employability coaches and other support agencies.
• Help customers manage money and sign up for benefits or move to a more permanent home.
• Keep records of everything; there is admin to do.
• Be resilient and empathetic, able to leave work at work.
• Support customers with day-to-day tenancy-related matters.
• Identify opportunities for employment, education and training and remove barriers to access.
• Signpost to external support services, including food banks and community resources.
• Support customers to be tenancy-ready and financially independent.
