Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Learning Support Practitioner to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support team at Shuttleworth College, Old Warden. You will provide personalised SEND learner support, monitor progress, and work with teachers and external professionals to ensure holistic student success.

You will promote inclusive teaching, maintain safeguarding standards, and contribute to ongoing professional development across multiple sites within our group.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 3 qualification in Learning Support, Education or a related field, with Level 2 English and Maths, experience supporting learners with SEND, and a background in educational, specialist or care settings.
• Strong understanding of SEND needs and effective support strategies, with the ability to promote independence and resilience.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills within multi-agency and educational environments.
• Proficient literacy, numeracy and digital skills, able to observe, record and report progress accurately.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group SEND learner support to help access the curriculum and develop independence.
• Monitor, record and report learner progress, providing timely feedback and evidence for EHCP reviews.
• Promote inclusive teaching and learning, implementing strategies to support communication, behaviour and study skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, ALS colleagues, parents/carers, therapists and external professionals to meet learner needs.
• Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and health and safety requirements; participate in SEND-focused professional development.
