Job summary

West Herts College is seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND team, delivering tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to support learners with SEND in accessing education. Based across campuses in Luton, Watford and Hemel Hempstead, there will be travel between sites.

You will collaborate with curriculum staff to promote inclusive teaching and use assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Qualifications

Experience supporting people with SEN and knowledge of SEND support strategies.
Experience delivering targeted interventions and promoting learner independence.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to develop study skills, independence and confidence.
Support learners with SEND needs, including those with EHCPs.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt teaching approaches and learning materials.
Promote inclusive learning strategies and effective use of assistive technologies.
Monitor learner progress, attendance and engagement, using data to inform interventions.
Support transition processes, including school liaison and learner assessments.
Provide specialist advice, guidance and training to staff to promote inclusive practice.
Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement of SEND provision.
